A veteran NASA Astronaut with two spaceflights and 104 days living and working in space on the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle. She was the first person to fly the robotic arm to capture the free-flying HTV cargo vehicle, performed a spacewalk, and returned to Earth on the final flight of Space Shuttle Discovery. In preparation for spaceflight, she was a crewmember on an 18-day saturation dive mission at the Aquarius Undersea Habitat. With an MS in Engineering, she is also an author, artist, and co-founder of Space for Art Foundation.

Globally recognized astrophysicist, he oversaw the launch and operations of flagship missions like James Webb Telescope and Spitzer Space Telescope. Served as Program Examiner at the Office of Management and Budget, shaping national R&D priorities and managing $8.5B budget for the DOE Office of Science. He was Assistant Director for Research Infrastructures and Science Equity at the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy.

A world expert in expandable habitats, he has led habitat development, testing and deployment for nearly 30 years. During his 18 years at NASA Johnson Space Center, he was a leader of the groundbreaking TransHab module development and testing, and ran several other important expandable habitat projects for NASA. He managed the BEAM project once on the ISS for which he earned the NASA JSC Center Director’s Innovation Award. He managed NASA’s Expandable Structures program, supporting the extensive ground testing of Max Space’s CTO’s structures that later flew as Genesis I and II. After NASA he joined Sierra Space as Chief Engineer of their soft goods program.
